Upgrade Kit for RHK SPM100

Without a doubt, the RHK-SPM 100 is the most widely used SPM control system in the world. Especially in the community of low-temperature and UHV experiments, RHK has provided an instrument which has led to many important discoveries.

Fully digital Control

Now, with the Upgrade Kit for the RHK-SPM100, you have the possibility of an upgrade which lets you benefit from the developments in modern software technology and at the same time does not even require you to obsolete your past investments. The kit simply takes over the control of the SPM100 hardware, triggers coarse motors, acquires and displays data and lets you take fully digital control of your SPM.

  • flexible, user-friendly and stable software
  • fully digital control - no drift due to analog electronics
  • simultaneous data acquisition on all channels
  • 22-bit resolution on all 8 output channels
  • up to 24 bits resolution on all input channels, independent of how many channels you acquire
  • plug-and-play installation with step-by-step instructions

Details and Specs: Upgrade Kit for RHK SPM100    Details and Specs: Upgrade Kit for RHK SPM100 (123.4 kB)

Feedback Loop: The SPM100 analog feedback loop is replaced with a fully digital feedback implementation with all benefits like SafeTip™, TipLift™ and no issues with high setpoints.

Data Acquisition:
8 analog input channels at up to 24 bit (at 100S/s, 20 bit at 10kS/s), independent of the number of channels acquired, two 40 MHz pulse counters.

Output Channels: 8 analog output channels at 22 bit thanks to our patented hrDAC™.

Scan Generator: The Nanonis system completely replaces the SPM100 scan generator with a 22-bit scan generator for X and Y. You get the maximum resolution without having to bother about offset and gain anymore.

Data Acquisition: The data acquisition in the Nanonis system is fully synchronous with the resolution independent of the number of channels acquired. Due to dynamic oversampling the resolution is automatically as high as possible.

Coarse Approach: Either triggered with TTL signal for operating a PMC100, or a kinetic waveform amplified by the SPM100.
